Synopsis

Constantly amusing and wickedly entertaining, I Trust You to Kill Me is no ordinary ‘rockumentary'. When indie record label act, Rocco DeLuca and the Burden head off on their first international tour, they hire a less than qualified tour manager; Kiefer Sutherland, star of the international megahit 24, who, not surprisingly, steals the show. Initially, it’s his Hollywood charm and touching personal stories, but ultimately it’s his madcap antics driven by his unadulterated support for the band, bordering on obsessiveness, that provide the most thrilling entertainment. From Los Angeles, London, Dublin, Reykjavik and Berlin, this documentary chronicles the perils of any struggling band on the road, from dingy hotel rooms to the prospect of playing to empty venues. Sutherland exploits his celebrity status to grant timely interviews that will enable him to plug the band. And whenever that proves inadequate, he's not ashamed to simply patrol the streets outside a club and give away tickets to amazed passers-by who can't believe they're seeing who they're seeing. Filmed in HD for the popular VH-1 strand, Rock Docs, director Manu Boyer expertly captures the genuine talent of the band alongside unmissible Sutherland moments; joking on the set of 24, a drunken attack on a Christmas tree in a top London hotel (already a hit on YouTube), getting ‘I Trust You To Kill Me’ tattooed on his arm in Icelandic, and more. When Boyer asks Sutherland “Why do you let me film you when you do all this crazy stuff?” “Because this band is worth seeing” is the committed reply. Maybe he is right.
