Synopsis

MANYAA
In a very little, almost unknown corner of Maharashtra,
lives a very poor family of four; Vithal, Taramati, Sonia
and Manya. Vithal is paralysed and unable to perform any
household duties let alone earn a living.
This part of their life is performed by the other three. A
difficult chore that is done without complains. They have
two milk cows and as a daily routine, Sonia and Manya milk
them; then it is Manya job to deliver the milk to the milk
centre and rush to school.
Unfortunately, as the path to the dairy and then to school
is long, Manya is always late for school. He is always
ridiculed by his teacher Mrs. Dhake. She hates him.
She believes that the school ‘lacks’ discipline and
frequently makes this a point of discussion in the staff
room, much to the irritation of the principal, Joshi, and
the senior teachers. But she has the support of the school
trustee Krishna Patil. His son, Jayendra, also studies in
Manya’s class.
Manya has only one true friend in this world; his classmate
Omkar. Omkar is unhappy that Manya is treated so badly by
Mrs. Dhake. He always tries to encourage and solve Manya’s
problems.
Even Vithal understands what his young son is going through
and encourages him.
One day the expected happens. Manya gets a warning from his
teacher. He is given 10 days to mend his ways and reach
school on time.
With the help of Omkar and his father, Manya tries and
succeeds. In turn everyone is astonished by Manya speed. He
can really run very fast.
In school, Krishna Patil (the trustee) organises a personal
coach for his son so that Jayendra can become a ‘great’
athlete. His training is to be conducted in the school.
As Manya keeps running fast into the school, he catches
Sudhir’s attention. Impressed Sudhir organises a school
race.
Manya participates in this race and wins. And also wins
Sudhir’s heart.
But with this win comes a heavy price for the little Manya
who from then on struggles to become the number one athlete
in the country with the help of Sudhir. But life has more
surprises stored for Manya, who is not always ready for it.
INTERMISSION
Manya now grown (age 22) continues to be a 100 metres
runner under the watchful eyes of Sudhir, who has become
his coach. After winning the national events (where he
breaks the Indian record, held by Sudhir, his coach), he
dreams of an Olympic medal. But this road is not so easy.
Big sacrifices are made to send him to the Olympics.

His main hurdles comes at a time when he was leaving london
for Olympics and he was put into situation where he has to
choose his love or love for the nation.
Manya is the story about a unique, strong and focused
spirit that takes the nation by storm.
