Synopsis

In the shadow of the posh financial district of Singapore - one of Asia’s most modern city centers a- the old world is still alive.
Every year 10.000 Tamils honor their God - lord Murugan, - by performing an incredible journey through the city of steel, glass and concrete. They walk barefoot 4 kilometers from one temple to the other with pots of milk on their head. Some get the signature piercing of Thaipusam: A needle through the cheeks and a needle through the tongue. And close to 300 men carries a kavadi – a large feather-decorated canopy - attached to theirs bodies by needles and pins. Some even drag chariots through hooks in their backs. All as part of the worship of Lord Murugan.
