Synopsis
Nine amateur poker players from all across the country board a luxury cruise ship, the Norwegian Dawn, to compete in the challenge of a lifetime. Nightly Texas Hold'em tournaments will test contestants' card-playing skills, but that’s just the beginning. The winner of the poker game wins big, capturing an exotic prize, while the losers are pitted against one another in outrageous challenges that test their physical and mental resolve to the maximum. The daily chip leaders secure another day in the lap of luxury, while the low men on the totem pole must face Lady Luck to see if they really have what it takes to win Bluff-High Seas, High Stakes. Each night, one player is eliminated, while the others battle for chips to stay on top. Bluff-High Seas, High Stakes takes the successful elements of such shows as Fear Factor, Survivor and World Series of Poker, and combines them into a fresh and exciting new hybrid of a reality show. This show satisfies the need for more personal, story-driven variety in current poker programming, while adding an ultra-popular poker element to already successful reality show formats. Bluff-High Seas, High Stakes brings two large audiences together: the male-dominated poker audience and the female-dominated reality show audience. Bluff-High Seas, High Stakes allows its viewer to see the more human side of poker players, while still providing action, drama and fun for viewers who are not familiar with poker. Clonie Gowen, one of the top-ranked professional female poker players, is the co-host for this voyage. Her presence will legitimize the poker play for hard-core poker fans tuning in. Bluff-High Seas, High Stakes is sure to entice viewers week after week with its scenic locales and party atmosphere, while delivering plenty of drama. The players are forced to live together in close quarters, a catalyst for conflict; however, the real source of tension is the grand prize at the forefront of every contestant’s mind.
