Synopsis
The word “appartarse” comes from Spanish and it means etymologically “to put oneself aside”. This ballet does not tell a story but gathers various situations and actions that are all based on this keyword: apartment. Mats Ek has staged eleven sequences which are performed without interruption. They are all inspired by the clichés situations of everyday life. Mats Ek puts on stage the relationship we have with common objects: these everyday rites seem to reveal our relationship with others. Starting with these common events, the choreographer creates an unusual atmosphere disturbing to the point of fantasy.
