Synopsis

This film pulls off the feat of bringing together three talented but stylistically dissimilar choreographers and a single theme: the solo.

The solo is the stage experience that makes the heaviest demands on the dancer: each performance imposes its own tension, calling for grueling emotional commitment and self-revelation from the solitary figure at its center.

Here we have solo experiments as different as they are visually, imaginatively and physically rewarding. In its portrayal of the modus operandi of the three choreographers, the film takes us to the heart of three exemplary creative processes.

Contemporary dancer Jean-Claude Gallotta is director of the National Choreography Centre in Grenoble.
Classically trained, Dominique Boivin is director of the Beau Geste dance company.

Hip-hop dancer Farid Berki is the choreographer for the Melting Spot dance company.
