Synopsis
Since then, several different versions of the love affair between Aminta the shepherd and Sylvia the nymph, perturbed by the wicked Orion and reconciled by the Gods-Eros and Diane- have been staged.
In this adaptation, John Neumeier interprets the tale as the loss of something dear to the heart: relieved of their mythological attire, the characters seem more human as they act out their first taste of emotion, the awakening of their sensuality and their disillusionment. Sylvia was the first ballet put on the Garnier Palace-in 1876.
