Synopsis
Investigative journalist Donal MacIntyre reveals the shocking truth about MRSA and how society's misuse of antibiotics and appalling hygiene practices has taken us to the point where certain bacterial infections are virtually unstoppable. First used during WW II, the miracle cure was penicillin. Since then around 100 antibiotics have been developed but today only a third of these can be used as the rest have lost their ability to kill bacteria. Donal MacIntyre goes undercover to reveal how hygiene and patient care varies wildly from country to country and by using concealed cameras sees just how squeaky clean, or otherwise, our hospitals really are.
