Synopsis

Parents everywhere was outraged when journalist Ann McElhinney reported how, as a newborn baby, Tristan Dowse was illegally adopted by Irishman Joe Dowse and his Azeri wife Lala. For two years he was part of the Dowse family living a privileged life in Jakarta, Indonesia, an Irish passport holder and citizen. When Lala became pregnant, Joe returned Tristan, to an orphanage. This groundbreaking documentary examines the story of this child Tristan, illegally adopted and then abandoned in an Indonesian orphanage. The documentary follows Ann McElhinney to Indonesia to try and find Suryani, Tristan’s natural mother. McElhinney’s investigation exposed a baby-selling network and also raised disturbing questions about international adoption.
