Synopsis
A never before seen look at the making of the Russian Bolshoi Ballet. This television special presents the most intimate portrait of the Bolshoi Ballet at home in Moscow. By virtue of being invited to the golden anniversary celebration for Artistic Director Vladimir Vasiliev, our crew gained extraordinary access to dressing rooms, hallways, practice auditoriums and the main stage to videotape and interview the top performers with the Bolshoi. This access has never been granted before, and represents a breakthrough achievement for American television. We see Vladimir Vasiliev coaching and directing his dance troupe, and gained access to another training session with one of the Bolshoi's former masters, Rimma Karelskaya. Our behind the scenes video of rehearsal allows the audience a more intimate look at the Bolshoi than has ever been seen before.
